The entity fully separated from Racal Electronics Plc in September 1991, officially becoming the independent Vodafone Group Plc. Following a merger with AirTouch Communications, Inc. in June 1999, the company briefly operated as Vodafone AirTouch Plc. However, following shareholder approval in July 2000, it returned to its established name, Vodafone Group Plc, as it is known today.
